What was your sport and how did you get into it?

I am a professional flat jockey, I have been riding professionally for just over 5 years now. Horse racing seemed the inevitable course of action, a mixture of speed, competitiveness, adrenaline and the partnership with my lifelong love, horses.

Tell us about the highlights of your sporting career?

My career highlight would be my Royal Ascot winner in 2021 on Lola Showgirl. Royal Ascot is arguably the highlighted meeting across the whole world, the highest class of horses, the most prestigious owners and spectators.

What were some of the challenges you experienced and how did you overcome them?

In 2022 I had an accident while riding at Epsom Racecourse, resulting in me breaking my neck. The mixture of physical and mental pain would never have been overcome without the help of the Injured Jockey Fund of where I spent 6-7 months haunting their halls.

What have been your highlights while working at the Trust?

I’ve only just had the pleasure of joining the team here at the trust, so I am yet to start the adventure. I cannot yet to meet so many amazing people and hopefully shed some light on someone’s life.

What do you do now alongside working for the Trust?

I am still riding professionally for the foreseeable, but I have always been searching for what is next in my life and making sure I have many aspects to look forward to if I should have a gloomy day. I spend a lot of with a camera, pencil or paintbrush in my hand.

What life advice would you give a young person?

I said something in an interview once in 2020, a young, fresh faced 19 year old, which has forever resonated to me. “Choose your people, pick them wisely and never let them go.” I think it is so important to surround yourself with good people. Because sometimes, you just need a helping hand .
