Tell us about the highlights of your sporting career?
2023 World World athletic championships in Budapest. Running a National record and 4 second PB over 1500m and then going on to make my first world final over 800m finishing 7th and running two personal best's over 800m.
What were some of the challenges you experienced and how did you overcome them?
The biggest challenge I experienced in sport was competing at the Olympics with a torn plantar. This injury went undiagnosed until after my last race in Paris, three months after it initially occurred. The main difficulty was the uncertainty. I knew something was wrong, but without a diagnosis, I continued to train which, likely worsening the injury. Despite the pain and the unknown nature of the injury, I focused on taking it one day and a time, working hard off my feet by cross-training and made it to compete at my first Olympics in Paris. I made the experience my priority and everything that comes with competing on the world stage, and because of that, I was still able to enjoy competing for what was my first and only competition's that season. The ability to persevere but still manage to find fun in the face of adversity is what I consider my proudest career moment.
What have been your highlights while working at the Trust?
Having had the privilege of being mentored by Dame Kelly Holmes, I've experienced firsthand the transformative power of mentorship. I'm incredibly honored to now be in a position to mentor others, offering the same support and guidance that was so invaluable to me. It's a true honor to come full circle.
What do you do now alongside working for the Trust?
I am continuing to compete as an athlete. However I am also a professional makeup artist, creative, speaker and proud ambassador for the British dyslexia association, advocating for neurodiversity. I'm currently mentioning some of the next generation of Jamaican distance athletes and hope to continue mentoring young individuals through my role as a Dame Kelly Holmes Trust mentor.
What life advice would you give a young person?
Lean into having fun...because there is no fear when you're having fun.
What experience do you have of working with corporate organisations?
I have spoken on a range of panels for, Hoka, JC Decaux, Beauty Stack, ASOS, Samsung, Women's Sport Trust, British Dyslexia Association, Dementia UK & The Body Shop.
