netball

What was your sport and how did you get into it?

My sport is netball - I got into it because my older sister Francesca played so I used to sit and watch her on the sidelines. One day her coach Mike Greenwood at Oldham Netball Club bribed me to join in with a huge teddy bear when I was 5 years old, and I never looked back!

Tell us about the highlights of your sporting career?

The highlights of my sporting career have been representing England at under 17, under 19, under 21 and senior level. Representing your country is a huge honour and gaining my senior caps and playing alongside players who I used to queue up to get autographs from is a humbling experience.

What were some of the challenges you experienced and how did you overcome them?

I have had multiple injuries and serious illnesses throughout my career - most recently having both my ankles operated on at the same time! This was a huge mental and physical challenge in order to rehabilitate myself back to be able to compete at the highest level in our country.

What have been your highlights while working at the Trust?

I love working for the Trust and the variety of programmes they are involved in. My most recent highlight is working on the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital mentoring programme and working with their patients - it has been so rewarding to see the progression within the young people

What do you do now alongside working for the Trust?

I still compete within the Netball Superleague for Severn Stars. I also work as a Performance Lifestyle Advisor for TASS within the University of Worcester and I am Franchise Pathway Lead at Severn Stars.

What life advice would you give a young person?

“There are no shortcuts to any place worth going” - anything you want in life requires hard work and dedication but it is always worth it.

What experience do you have of working with corporate organisations?

I have experience of successfully delivering talks and seminars to several large organisations.

What does Being Me mean to you?

Being Me means being my authentic self in every context of my life and embracing that my differences are what make me unique.
