The unstoppable drive and determination of world class athletes does not end when a Games closes or at the final whistle. Their success does not stop at the podium or the trophies. Their backstory resonates with young people as much as any medal. For us this is the legacy of sport – harnessing the athlete’s unique skills and mindset to level the playing field for the next generation, unlocking young people’s potential, making a difference in their communities and shaping their futures.

HARRY’s Story

Harry has played in seven major tournaments across nine years for the England Cerebral Palsy team. Before leaving to represent England at the 2023 IFCPF European Championships in Italy, we spoke to Harry about his career and his time as an athlete mentor at the Trust

kelvin’s
story

Kelvin is a two time BMX World Champion who has been an athlete mentor with the Trust since 2017. His favourite sporting achievement was winning his second world title at the age of 34, surrounded by family and friends.

jack’s Story

Jack was on the verge of turning professional as a footballer with Birmingham City when an unprovoked attack on a night out changed his life. The brain injury he suffered meant his dream of Premiership football was over but he went on to captain Team GB at the Paralympic Games at Rio in 2016.

rachael’s

Rachael was born with the limited use of one arm and after taking up swimming at an early age on the advice of her doctors, went on to become a 50m and 200m butterfly World Record holder and swum at the 2008 Paralympic Games.

Sport has helped me changed my life around. If I hadn’t started up boxing I don’t know if I would have been doing this amazing job that I get to do now.
