What do you do right now
I have recently retired after a decade as Chief Operating Officer at UK Anti-Doping. Beyond DKHT I am a Trustee of two other charities.

Relevant experience for Trustee role
I am a Chartered Accountant, have been a Trustee or school governor for the last 30 years and worked in not-for-profit organisations for the last 20 years. That experience has involved chairing several finance, audit and risk committees, giving me considerable understanding of the responsibilities of a Trustee.

Why you love working with the Trust
I have spent much of my career working with young people, particularly those who needed some help and support. The way in which the Trust fuses together the skills of elite athletes and the needs of young people is a fantastic way of creating positive change.

What’s your sport
I watch any sport but most of my active participation these days is hill walking.

What do you do right now
I am a venture capital investor with a focus on software and technology. I work at Octopus Ventures and invest in early stage start-ups that have a commercialised product and are in the scale-up phase of their growth journey.

Relevant experience for Trustee role:

I bring over a decade of working in financial services and am a qualified chartered accountant. As an investor, I have backed numerous founders to achieve their growth ambitions and subsequently sit on the boards of these companies. This hands-on experience of driving growth, alongside a strong financial background means I bring a different perspective on how the Trust can reach its goals.

Why you love working with the Trust:

The work Dame Kelly Homes Trust does to equip disadvantaged young people to be the best version of themselves, through partnerships with athletes, I find truly inspiring. I’ve had the privilege of having some amazing coaches and mentors that have built my confidence, so the purpose of the Trust really struck a chord with me.  Sporting success requires resilience, determination and teamwork – these same values can be applied to our personal lives and careers, and this is exactly what Dame Kelly Holmes Trust looks to harness.

What’s your Sport:

Tennis – attempting to play & as a spectator! Alongside hiking and skiing.
