From joining the programme until now, I have got a lot more confidence in myself, I’ve learned how to lead and plan a session... and developed a lot more skills in working with children as well.

Being a Young Leader has really changed my views of living in East Belfast. I’m working with people from East & West Belfast and I wouldn’t have got this opportunity if it wasn’t for joining this group.

Nicole attended the Young Leaders Training programme in the Colin & Eastside area of Belfast in 2018/2019. The programme aims to create a group of highly motivated, skilled and socially responsible young people who are enthusiastic about driving forward positive change in their communities and in society. It engages young people in sports, physical and creative activities that bring communities together and help create the next generation of community leaders.

Nicole has been fantastic all the way through the programme. Over the last few weeks she’s really come to the forefront and is now leading sessions and to see her with the confidence to talk in front of the camera, it’s just been a pleasure to watch.

Going to Liverpool was really good, it was good to meet other people who were doing this programme and it was a really good learning experience that we got. What I got from it was that Liverpool’s past and also the now isn’t so different from what we have experienced over here.
