Fundraiser Pippa smashes first marathon

Everyone at Dame Kelly Holmes Trust is hugely proud of our Fundraising and Events Officer Pippa, who completed her first marathon recently in Brighton in an amazing time of just over four hours.

Pippa ran the event to raise funds for the Trust, as part of our Starting Blocks Challenge. A Starting Block is the person, place or moment that inspired you to become who you are today and for Pippa, that Starting Block was the athletics club she joined when she was 13 years old. It gave her a drive, some of her closest friends, a network of encouragement to study Sport at University and an ongoing hobby providing a physical and mental boost.

Running a marathon has always been on my bucket list and being able to complete it whilst also supporting the Trust has been great. It was a huge mental challenge but the crowd support in Brighton was incredible and the feeling of achievement was worth every mile! Now that my legs have recovered, I’m almost tempted to do another in the future…
I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone for their support!

At the time of writing, Pippa has raised an amazing £850 for the Trust, money that will support us to help improve the health and wellbeing of over 10,000 young people over the next ten years. We're encouraging everyone to think about the person, place or moment that inspired you to become who you are and then get sponsored to run, walk, swim or ride the distance back to where your story started, or take on a challenge event like our brilliant Pippa.
